José Mourinho says Manchester United “are the unluckiest team in the Premier League”

Never a dull moment.

José Mourinho seemed surprisingly chipper despite seeing his Manchester United team concede a late equaliser at home to Arsenal.

But he still had time to throw a complaint or two into his post-match interview, claiming the Red Devils were the “unluckiest team in the Premier League”.

So, what sparked the claim? A harsh red card? A deflection going against them? Not even close.

“We had chances to kill the game, Rojo and Pogba’s situations were an open goal,” Mourinho said.

“Then the only time we had a situation we couldn’t resolve they scored a goal. So they were the lucky ones, we were the unlucky ones.”

United also had a penalty shout in the first half when Antonio Valencia went to ground under Nacho Monreal’s challenge, but Andre Marriner waved away the home side’s appeals.

The hosts took the lead through Juan Mata in the second period before substitute Olivier Giroud levelled things up, but Mourinho made a point of not talking about the penalty call…before proceeding to talk about the penalty call.

“I don’t want to speak about it. I have a very good feeling with Andre Marriner,” the United boss explained.

“He said I don’t want to be seen and he’s right, he doesn’t want to be the star of the game.

“If it was a mistake i don’t want to say yes or no but I know, I’ve seen the replays.”

And he signed off with the words: “At the moment we are the unluckiest team in the Premier League.”

Never change, José.
