In José Mourinho-land, Manchester United are celebrating extending their unbeaten run to 18 games in all competitions.
Of course, back in reality, the run stopped at 17 as goals from Tom Huddlestone and Oumar Niasse, either side of a Paul Pogba strike, gave Hull City a 2-1 win in their EFL Cup semi-final second leg.
That result meant United progressed 3-2 on aggregate, but Mourinho wasn’t willing to accept that his team lost on the night.

“We didn’t lose,” the Portuguese said, while keeping a straight-face.
“It was 1-1. I only saw two goals.
“I saw the Pogba goal, and their goal – a fantastic goal, great action, a great cross and the guy on the far post…we’re still unbeaten.”
Now, Mourinho is a man who has got in plenty of trouble for comments about officials in the past, and there’s no way he was going to fall into that trap again in relation to the decision that led to Tom Huddlestone’s first-half penalty.
Has he found a loophole, then? In a sense, you’re not even acknowledging the refereeing decision if you refuse to accept the goal itself.
