This could pave the way for Fabinho to start.

Liverpool have been dealt a major injury blow as Jordan Henderson has been ruled out of Wednesday’s Champions League tie against Red Star Belgrade as well as the Reds’ upcoming fixture against Cardiff at the weekend.

Henderson was forced off at half-time of Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Huddersfield on Saturday with a hamstring injury, and was replaced by Gini Wijnaldum.

Already without Naby Keita, Jurgen Klopp’s midfield options are starting to look thin. Henderson’s injury could pave the way for Fabinho to start his first game of the season at the base of the midfield trio.

“Hendo got a little hamstring injury in the game,” Klopp said. “From what I understand, it is not too serious but enough that he is not available tomorrow or at the weekend.

“From that day on, we will count the days and hopefully against Arsenal [on 3 November], he can be back.”

“Naby is in a good way already again, he is outside running and we will have to see, take it day by day.”
