Joleon Lescott is moving to Scotland and they can all look forward to his lofty ambitions

Conan Doherty

Thanks for that, Joleon. Short… but… pathetic.

It seems that Lescott’s Villa nightmare Villa’s Lescott nightmare is finally over with news that the Englishman is headed north.

The Scottish Sun are reporting that the 34-year-old – masquerading as a defender this past season – is on his way to Rangers and that a two-year deal will be complete in the next 24 hours, in time for the two-time Premier League winner (yep) to line out against Motherwell on Saturday.

The one-season wonder at Villa Park finally managed to achieve relegation at the end of last season despite it looking for a while as if Villa might… actually, no, it never did.

And, whilst Lescott still hasn’t spoken on the potential move to Rangers, we can only imagine what he’ll be thinking heading up to the Scottish Premier League where the Glasgow outfit currently reside at the top.

“I knew, moving to Rangers, what I had to do but coming to the SPL is never easy, no matter what situation you’re in,” is what the Lescott of last season might be thinking. “I will show a level of pride but there probably won’t be enough of that throughout this season.

“It’s about results so regardless of how I play in patches, we’ll probably get relegated … But when it’s confirmed, maybe it’ll be a weight off the shoulders and we can give the Ibrox fans what they deserve, some performances.”

Don’t expect the Villa fans to take the news too badly.
