The JOE World Cup Minipod #22 featuring Paul Pogba’s redemption, the worst ever Golden Boot winner and Conor McGregor’s Putin endorsement

SportsJOE

Allez France! Allez Paul Pogba!

France won their second World Cup in a Moscow final which contained some of the chaos, some of the VAR craziness and a little of the madness which has made the tournament so special.

Croatia will feel they were unlucky but why couldn’t that sense of grievance help them as it had against England?

And then there were the post-match ceremonies and Conor McGregor’s endorsement of Vladimir Putin which, in a strange way, seemed to be in keeping with so much that had gone before. Everyone said Russia would be a terrible host, but it has been a magnificent tournament, but will this be the last great World Cup?

In the final episode of JOE’s World Cup Minipod, Dion Fanning, Paddy McKenna and Nooruddean Choudry discuss France, Pogba and the tournament of shithousery.

Were France deserving winners? What does Didier Deschamps say to Paul Pogba that Jose Mourinho doesn’t? We have the stats on Harry Kane’s Golden Boot misery. And is France’s World Cup triumph down to Pogba’s sensible haircut?

  • Who was the player of the tournament?
  • Was Harry Kane the worst ever Golden Boot winner?
  • Will Manchester United see this Paul Pogba next season?
