Wales have never made the semi-finals of a major tournament before, though they did reach the last eight in the 1958 World Cup in Sweden.
The Welsh Euro 2016 adventure has forced Joe Ledley to shelve his wedding plans.
The Crystal Palace midfielder and his fiancee were due to tie the knot in Ibiza on Saturday – but with a semi-final showdown against Portugal looming, the pair’s big day has been postponed.
Gareth Bale told the media that the decision had been made after Wales saw off Belgium – the highest ranked team in the competition – in the quarter final in Lille on Friday night.
“He’s obviously booked it a long time ago, before qualifying,” Bale explained.
“These things do happen to pop up. The boys are fully focused on the task in hand and I’m sure they’ll re-organise stuff.”
Fortunately, Ledley’s wife-to-be was understanding of the situation after the Welsh victory over Belgium.

Wales’ Euro 2016 run had also left Chris Gunter with a wedding-related dilemma. The Reading defender was due to fly to Mexico to be best man at his brother’s wedding. With the game against Portugal on the horizon, Gunter has had to cancel his plans but will be able to deliver the all important best man’s speech via Skype.
