Jesse Lingard is a talented prospect and is currently holding his own in Manchester United’s multi-million line-up. Nonetheless…
Ahead of United’s Champions League encounter with PSV, the club caught up with former coach Rene Meulensteen for a match programme interview.
The Dutchman, who was Alex Ferguson’s number two for six years, certainly had some high praise for Lingard.
Meulensteen told United Review, “I see Lingard as the English version of [Andrés] Iniesta.
“He has still got a long way to go but that is the sort of player I see in him.”
It is a lofty notion, given that Lingard is taking his first big strides in professional football while Iniesta has won just about every honour in the game, at club and international level.
Some football fans on Twitter did not agree with Fergie’s former number two.
@manutdupdates_ wtf!? Lingard doesn't even have an inch similarity to iniesta. Different players. Wrong comparison
