We’ve rarely seen him this animated.
Hartlepool’s 0-2 defeat at home to Barnet has seen the club edge ever closer to relegation as they’re now two points from safety with just two games remaining in League Two.
Goals from John Akinade and Simeon Akinola were enough to give the visitors the three points, and as the final score came in, the Soccer Saturday host didn’t hold back in his criticism of Hartlepool’s manager, Dave Jones.
“This is not personal Dave, but Dave Jones – for god’s sake, for the good of the club – walk now! Go now! You’ve got 13 points from 51. This is not your level of football. Pam Duxbury, the chairman – if he won’t walk – sack him! If it means me resigning as president, I do so happily. Do it no, do it today!” Stelling said.
Hartlepool’s next games are Cheltenham (A) and Doncaster (H) as they bid to preserve their league status.
It’s moments like this that we’ll miss when Jeff eventually retires.
