Less than 24 hours after playing a starring role against Georgia, Jeff Hendrick had to make a court appearance.
The Ireland international appeared in court on Tuesday after he was charged over an alleged row in Dublin back in 2013, according to an RTE report.
The Dubliner is accused of violent disorder on Harcourt Street in Dublin on 12th October 2013.
He was brought to appear before Judge Anthony Halpin at the Dublin District Court where Garda Damian Beakey told the court that Hendrick was arrested at 3.28am, and the charge was put against him by the station sergeant 18 minutes later.
“He had no reply to the charge after caution and was given a true copy of the charge,” Gda Beakey said.
Judge Halpin heard the Director of Public Prosecutions had decided the case should be dealt with at District Court level and not sent forward to the Circuit Court, which can impose lengthier sentences.
The facts of the case were not presented, but Gda Beakey said that no one susained any injuries during the alleged incident.
The garda prosecuting the case said disclosure of evidence would be provided and that a co-defendant was due to appear in court on 20th October.
Judge Halpin remanded him on bail in his own bond of €200 and adjourned the case until that date. He added that it will be listed for a plea to be entered.
Hendrick has not yet entered a plea. The midfielder was excused from having to attend court on the next date because he has a match the following day.
The charge involves an allegation of the use of, or the threat of violence, which could cause a person to fear for their safety.
