Jason McAteer’s goal against Amsterdam may finally have been overshadowed in the minds of Irish football fans.

The former Liverpool man was a key figure as we booked out place at the 2002 World Cup, which was the Scousers second major tournament with Ireland, having featured in the 1994 World Cup in the USA under Jack Charlton.
The midfielder was part of the famous ‘three amigos’ group of Gary Kelly and Phil Babb, who had a reputation as good footballers and also a men with a taste for the night-life and more.
