There’s one aspect of Jamie Vardy’s fairytale rise through the ranks that we’ve enjoyed more than any other.
No, it’s not how a former non-league player took the wealthy Premier League by storm in his late 20s. Nor is it the fact he broke a record of one of the Premier League’s most revered strikers on his way to leading Leicester City to their first ever English title in over a century of playing. No, the highlight of the Jamie Vardy story has been his wife Rebekah Vardy and her unapologetically frank Twitter account.
These days it’s rare to get a proper insight into the what goes on behind the scenes for a Premier League footballer, but Rebekah Vardy has at least given us a closer look at the thought process of someone close to one of the stars we watch every weekend.
She has been criticised in the past for being too honest on Twitter, with many believing that her openness gave them free rein to abuse her for some reason. This all came to a head when it was announced that Arsenal had met her husband’s release clause fee of £20m and that the Vardy clan would be considering a move to London

Despite a post clearly implying her desire for her and her husband to stay in Leicester, Mrs Vardy was subject to abuse from a section of Leicester “fans” who were furious that their star striker may leave the club.
As it turns out, Vardy signed a new deal with the Foxes on Thursday to keep him at the King Power Stadium for another four years, and Rebekah immediately sought an apology from those who had painted her and her husband as traitors without understanding the full story of what was happening outside of the public eye.
