Jamie Vardy couldn’t pass up the chance to troll Spain after England’s win

Vardy was initially supposed to take England's fifth penalty

Jamie Vardy was in some discomfort after England’s dramatic victory over Colombia on Tuesday night.

Vardy picked up a groin strain during the Round of 16 clash after coming on in the 88th minute for Raheem Sterling. The Leicester forward was due to take a penalty in the shootout but manager Gareth Southgate had to change the plan after Vardy suffered the injury which could well rule him out of the upcoming quarter-final against Sweden.

Eric Dier instead took and scored England’s fifth penalty, securing Southgate’s side a place in the World Cup quarter-final while Vardy could only watch on.

Sky Sports report Vardy received an injection in his groin after the match and while the issue could well make him unavailable for Saturday’s game in Samara, the 31-year-old was in playful form after the shootout.

As Vardy and teammates ran to the crowd to celebrate with family, friends and fans, the striker answered a question regarding his injury with some needless trolling of Spain.

“I’m feeling better than Spain did,” Vardy responded when a supporter asked how he was feeling.

Spain crashed out of the World Cup on Sunday afternoon after ending up on the wrong end of a penalty shootout with tournament hosts Russia.
