Poor Arsene Wenger.
Arsene Wenger is one of the most decorated managers in English football. Ever. He’s also been criticised more than any other manager in English football. Ever.
The panel on Sky Sports today were discussing Wenger’s future at Arsenal today and Jamie Redknapp unleashed a zinger.
“When Arsene Wenger was going whole seasons unbeaten he was Le Proffeseur, now he’s more like Basil Fawlty.”
We wonder how long it took him to come up with that one. A few Twitter-heads were very impressed with Jamie’s witty remark though.
Basil fawlty ffs redknapp lmao 😂😂

Jamie Redknapp comparing Arsène Wenger to Basil Fawlty was actually quite funny!

It’s not the first time Wenger has been compared to a John Cleese character (Cleese played Basil Fawlty in Fawlty Towers) and it reminded us of a classic RTE panel argument from 2008.
Speaking after Arsenal’s defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League, Eamon Dunphy said an exasperated Wenger reminded him of Cleese in Monty Python and started laughing.
Liam Brady didn’t like the comparison and things got heated, watch the clip here.

Maybe Graeme Souness fed Redknapp the line… Surely he fondly remembers all his Montrose arguments.
