Jamie Carragher was never going to let Gary Neville away with that cheeky message on his birthday.
A few weeks ago Carragher turned 39, but it was a day to forget.
Unfortunately for the Liverpool legend, his birthday happened to fall during his beloved club’s horrendous run of form.
In the weeks building up to his big celebration, he had to endure the Reds dropping points to Sunderland, Swansea City and Manchester United and also being sent crashing out of the EFL Cup by Southampton. His brief bit of football-related happiness came courtesy of a win over Plymouth Argyle (at the second time of asking), but that replay win only set him up for a nightmare birthday.
While Carragher was blowing 39 candles out on his cake, Wolves upset Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield, sending them packing from the FA Cup at the fourth round stage. Rather than dwell on another abysmal result, Carragher just wanted to pull a few party poppers in peace, so he issued a simple plea to his Twitter followers.
Not seen any of the @LFC game as it wasn't on @SkySports & they don't allow me to watch other channels. Also my birthday so leave me alone!

Neville received the memo, but decided to blatantly ignore it by cheekily filling his co-analyst in on what he had missed in the game.
The former Manchester United defender ended his message by wishing Carragher a happy birthday, which only poured more salt in the fresh wound.
You were unlucky apparently . Another 5 mins you'd have scored.. happy birthday 🎉 https://t.co/FNU4FyLKOH

Neville must have known he was playing with fire. Considering how close their birthdays are, he surely didn’t expect Carra to forgive and forget that soon.
Indeed, Carragher did exact his revenge by returning the favour with an even cheekier greeting.
He dug up an old photo of Gary and his brother Phil that is in equal parts embarrassing and unsettling to mark the special occasion.
Happy Birthday @GNev2 pic.twitter.com/uNnkTzCJST
