May 2014.
Before last night, that was the last time Jon Flanagan had started a game for Liverpool in the Premier League.
The full-back has been absent due to a succession of injuries, but made an impressive comeback at Anfield in a 3-0 win over Manchester City.
Playing at right-back, the man known as the ‘Scouse Cafu’ kicked Raheem Sterling up in the air early on, and afterwards every pass was cheered by the home crowd.
However his contract runs out at the end of this season, and there is a debate about whether he will earn a new deal under Jurgen Klopp.
Local newspaper the Liverpool Echo ran a poll this morning asking fans if they felt the defender should be rewarded with a new contract at Anfield.
The results were pretty comprehensive.
Still time to vote in our very tight poll about Jon Flanagan https://t.co/VXcZBfGt7O pic.twitter.com/IFcIMX1VXu

There is normally a margin of error of 3% in any poll, but Jamie Carragher thinks he may know exactly who the lone voice in the wild could be against Jon Flanagan getting a new contract.
The 1% must be Luis Enrique https://t.co/5Da2zPRSCU

Carragher was clearly so impressed by Flanagan; he thinks he could be a target for Barcelona this summer, and all for free.
That, or he got Luis Enrique mixed up with Jose Enrique.
