Jamie Carragher names Premier League team of 2017… and it’s class

Jamie Carragher has named his Premier League team of 2017, and it's difficult to argue against the inclusion of any of these players.

Carragher selected his team of the year for his column in The Daily Telegraph, and it is dominated by Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur. The Premier League champions have four players in Carragher's side, Spurs have three, his former team Liverpool have two players, while there is one player each from the two Manchester clubs. While it's not an easy task to select such a team, Carragher arguably gets it right with his choices. In goal, Carragher opted for David de Gea, the Manchester United and Spain 'keeper widely considered to be one of the best in the world and arguably the best in the Premier League. The former Liverpool defender selected Spurs pair Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen at central-defence, with Chelsea's Cesar Azpilicueta at full-back and his teammate Marcos Alonso at left-back. In midfield, N'Golo Kante, last season's player of the year, gets the nod beside Kevin de Bruyne and Philippe Coutinho. The front three features Eden Hazard, Sadio Mane and Harry Kane. "It's not easy in the Premier League with competition from Romelu Lukaku, Alvaro Morata, Sergio Aguero," Carragher writes.

"But I am going to go for Harry Kane. We are three or four years in now and I think we will be saying the same thing in 10 years time about him being the main striker in the Premier League.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan's form since the start of the season, as well as Christian Eriksen's displays over the last year, would easily put them in contention for a place in anyone's Premier League team of the year. While David Silva is consistently brilliant and Romelu Lukaku can't stop scoring goals. But, based on their form since January, each player warrants a place in this side, and it's difficult to argue with Carragher's choices. Here's his team in full:
