We can’t be 100% certain, but we’re pretty sure that Jamie Carragher isn’t a fan of the current Aston Villa side.
The Villains were on the wrong side of a Valentine’s Day massacre on Sunday as Liverpool. The Reds took no prisoners as they fired six goals and conceded none to score a dominant victory in Villa Park.
After the match, Carra took the hatchet to bottom of the league Aston Villa, claiming that the squad are nowhere near top flight pace.
“I’m just thinking about how difficult it is for young kids, their dream is to play in the Premier League. If you watch Aston Villa that gives you hope (laughs). How are them group of players playing in the Premier League at that level?”
Carra feels that the team is so abysmal that they won’t have to endure their best players being sold back to the Premier League after relegation. His reasoning being that they simply don’t have any players at that level.
“I always think with teams that go down, there’s always two or three players who, maybe other managers in the Premier League will think, ‘Aston Villa are going down, we’ll try to buy him.’ I can’t think of one Premier League manager looking at that team thinking there’s one player there I’d like to take into my squad. That’s how poor they are.”
Carragher: "If that (Villa) team was in the Championship they'd be close to the bottom, not the top."

Carragher did not relent while tearing the Villains into shreds. The former Liverpool defender even went as far to say that they’re the worst team in the history of the Premier League.
“I said at half-time, they might be one of the worst I’ve seen, I think Derby and Sunderland were probably the worst, but forget about points, I think they’re (Villa) the worst I’ve seen, that’s as bad as you’re going to see.”

Carragher: "They are an embarrassment, Aston Villa. They have been for a few years."
