El Hadji Doiuf even got dragged into it
Jamie Carragher is not a man we’d think would be too concerned about the formalities surrounding a game.
The words ‘no-nonsense’ describe the ex-Liverpool defender pretty well, and we’re hardly surprised that he didn’t think much of today’s non-handshake moment between Arsene Wenger and Jose Mournio at the end of the Community Shield.
The pair have a bit of history, and even accepting that they don’t really like each other it was still a bit odd to see grown men blank each other so visibly.
Carra felt that the whole thing was blown out of proportion
JM/AW handshake is a nonsense, they can't stand each other so why pretend. Jose never gave Wenger a second look in the tunnel beforehand!!

But German Didi Hamann didn’t agree
@DietmarHamann We all should shake but Jose can't say he's waiting to shake after totally ignoring him before the game it's an act!
— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) August 2, 2015
Didi then tried to put the issue to bed
@Carra23 Agreed. They better start growing up, I think they all take themselves a little bit too important.
— Didi Hamann (@DietmarHamann) August 2, 2015
But Carragher had to put the boot in and drag in one of Liverpool’s worst ever players into the argument
@DietmarHamann You never shook El Hadji Diouf’s hand.
— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) August 2, 2015
Carragher then tried to end the whole palaver with a tweet aimed to hit Didi where it hurts, his Germanic pride
@DietmarHamann Getting serious on me now Kaiser is it because you're after that ambassador role for the club after the pre season trip?!!
— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) August 2, 2015
But in expert show of social media efficiency, the midfielder set the ex-England man straight
Far from it my friend. I wasn't an ambassador, I was part of the travelling party. https://t.co/HhmUuOuHdC

It’s not like the former midfielder is too bothered either way if Carragher doesn’t come back with a response judging by where he’s hanging out tonight
