Even James Milner knows that Mo Salah effort wasn’t deserving of the Puskas award.
According to James Milner, the Puskas winner wasn’t even Mo Salah’s best effort that year.
We’re sure you’ve all heard the news by now, but in case you haven’t, let us give you a brief refresher. Salah’s goal in the Merseyside Derby was voted the best goal of the year at Fifa’s ceremony on Monday. If you’ve forgotten the curled effort on Jordan Pickford, have another gander below.

It was a lovely, lovely effort. However, the general consensus is that it was undeserving of the top goal award in the world. Especially given that it was the year in which Gareth Bale scored that astounding bicycle kick in the Champions League final.
Deep down, everyone knows the Welshman deserved the prestigious accolade. Bale knows it, Fifa know it, Salah knows it.
Salah’s teammate Milner was willing to admit it. The England international had a zinger ready after the announcement was made.
Congrats @MoSalah on your 7th best goal from last season winning goal of the year 😜 #Baller#Topbin#oneofmanyworldies https://t.co/OkNMlIsNLb

He’s not wrong though. Is he?
