Boring? Not for a minute.
Liverpool’s Europa League quarter final against Borussia Dortmund certainly lived up to billing.
Within the first eight minutes of the kick off Liverpool went from needing no goals to reach the semi-final to needing three as Dormund raced into a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Divock Origi gave Liverpool hope with a smart finish at the start of the second half, but Marco Reus’ cool finish seemed to put the tie behind Jurgen Klopp’s side.
But not quite as goals from Philippe Coutinho and Mamadou Sakho brought the game back to 3-3 on the night and 4-4 on aggregate.
And then in the dying minutes Dejan Lovren headed home the winner to make it arguably the most dramatic European night at Anfield since the Champions League semi-final second leg against Chelsea in 2005.
But before that winner, as Liverpool launched their attempted comeback, one thing happened time and time again that sapped their momentum and brought groans and howls of frustration from the Anfield crowd: James Milner’s corners.
Again and again the Liverpool No7 failed to clear the first man. And it was upsetting an awful lot of people.
Howls of derision as another Milner corner fails to clear the first man again.

I don't want to see Milner take another corner in my life again. #LFC

@sportswithjohn Trow a dart anywhere and it travel farther than any James Milner corner.

But lo and behold cometh the hour cometh the man and Milner stepped up and delivered the inch perfect cross for Lovren’s winner.
Whatever you think about him as a player he certainly doesn’t hide. That much is certain.
