Most Ireland fans were happy to see James McClean return to the Premier League.
The winger completed a transfer to West Brom from Wigan yesterday for an undisclosed fee, signing a three year deal at the midlands club.
With the Baggies not exactly flushed for wide options, one would imagine the signing of McClean, who performed well in his first spell in the division with Sunderland, would’ve been welcomed by the club’s fans.
Or at least not largely hated, as it seems to be judging by the reaction of West Brom fans on Twitter.

Some made an instant judgement call, emphatically and passionately stating their displeasure at the signing of a decent player for a decent, mid-table Premier League side.

One Wigan fan seemed to enjoy it all, as though he’d just sold some poor soul a dodgy car.

While some just don’t like a person they’ve possibly never met.
@WBAFCofficial @premierleague not only is this guy a truly awful player but he's an even worse human being. Can't believe you've signed him!

For others, there were greater issues to contend with.
@WBAFCofficial @premierleague @LaticsOfficial that can't be the away kit for next season? It's horrendous

Some were adopting the ‘wait and see’ approach.
