Say what you will, but James McClean is a good guy.
You might not agree with his beliefs, you might not like his principles or even some of his no-nonsense challenges, but you can’t deny that he has a kind heart.
The Republic of Ireland international is never far away from a headline but he also never loses touch with his local community and, yet again, he has come through in the kindest of fashion.
McClean, who just two weeks ago donated to his old GAA club and was also involved in the Mark Farren fundraising efforts, brilliantly helped out a young kid with Spina Bifida in a touching way.
A Derry family started a Facebook page to raise £1,500 for a new hand cycle bike for the little girl for Christmas. But James McClean’s generous contribution soon made those fundraising efforts completely unnecessary.
What a great fella. Fair play to him.
Again.
Say what you want about him, but you can't doubt his class when it comes to things like this @JamesMcC14 👏🏼 @JOEdotie pic.twitter.com/O0aPmYDTLP

William Sweeney, the man who shared the touching story, had nothing but praise for McClean.
“My family can’t thank him enough,” he said. “He’s a class act and gives so much back to his community and it’s why the people of Derry and so many love him.”
Well said.
Thanks to Rory Kelly for sending this our way.
