James McClean not happy with coin-throwing “coward” after FA Cup defeat

No respect

Ben Kiely

There were some pretty disgusting scenes at the Madjeski stadium on Saturday.

West Brom were sent crashing out of the FA Cup after losing 3-1 to Championship side Reading, a game that saw Paul McShane crop up with a goal.

The defeat clearly disappointed the West Brom faithful who traveled to the game and one supporter in particular didn’t take too kindly to Chris Brunt coming over to applaud the away support. The Northern Irishman was struck with a coin thrown by one of his own club’s supporters as he was trying to give his shirt to a young fan after the final whistle.

An enraged Brunt picked up the object and showed it to the stewards and baying fans. He was escorted off the pitch and appeared to have a mark under his eye where the coin hit him.

His teammate James McClean took to Twitter after the match to vent his frustration at the “cowardly” fan who threw the coin at his own player.
