Brendan Rodgers confirmed Maddison felt 'a little bit faint'

James Maddison had his pulse checked by Leicester's medical staff after going down unchallenged during their Europa Conference League win over Randers on Thursday. The Foxes secured a 4-1 win over their Danish opponents, with goals from Wilfred Ndidi, Harvey Barnes, Patson Daka and Kieran Dewsbury-Hall ensuring they ran out comfortable winners at the King Power. However, there was one concern on the night when midfielder Maddison sat down on the ground off the ball. The 25-year-old replaced Ndidi in the 75th minute, but he was unable to complete the game as his off-the-ball incident forced him off late on in the tie.

Leicester's medical staff conducted a number of routine checks, which included taking his pulse, before he was able to walk off the pitch with their assistance.

BT Sport commentator Ian Darke later confirmed that once Maddison had returned to the changing room, he was subjected to further examinations by staff.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, Rodgers revealed that Maddison was taken off as he felt unwell.

"I've spoken to him and he felt a bit funny in the game, so we didn't want to take any risks with that," the Leicester boss said.

"We just took him off and he went to see the doctors.

"He just felt unwell, so we took him off. It's something they will do (checking his pulse).

"He was sat up (when Rodgers spoke to him). He felt a little bit faint but he was okay."

Leicester all but secured their place in the Europa Conference League last-16 with their 4-1 victory, and their attention now turns to a Premier League trip to Wolves on Sunday.
