Jack Grealish won’t be spending much time at all in the Championship.
That’s if Premier League teams get their way as a number of clubs have singled out the 20-year-old as a top transfer target this summer.
Stoke lead the race for Grealish’s signature, according to a report in the Telegraph, as manager Mark Hughes wants to continue his creative revolution at the Britannia.
Grealish will be keen on a quick return to Premier League life after he endured an awful season, statistically the worst individual campaign in history, as Aston Villa were relegated with a club record low tally of 17 points.
Grealish was backed for a bright future in the top-flight but came off the rails last season a bit, being banished to the Villa Under-21s after a night of partying.
The attacking midfielder is also being monitored by Spurs and Everton after impressing on his full England U21 debut at the Toulon Tournament last week.
But it’s the Potters who are said to be in the driving seat as they look to take a risk on a prospect whose talents may be wasted in the Championship.
Let’s hope he doesn’t drag this transfer saga out as long as he did with his international declaration epic.
