Great to see

An impressive accolade.

Jack Byrne’s career continues to progress at an promising rate.

The 19 year old Dubliner, on-loan at Dutch side Cambuur from Manchester City, has made an impressive step-up to regular senior football in a competitive European league.

Byrne scored his first goal for the Eredevise side at the end of February, and the Irish U21 international has been named in the Eredivisie team of the week for his performance against Feyenoord.

Cambuur, who are currently second from bottom in the Dutch top flight, lost the game 3-1, but Byrne’s performance in central midfield caught the eye of Dutch website Betweters.

Whether the technically gifted 19 year old can make a late push for the Republic of Ireland’s Euro 2016 squad remains to be seen.

But if Byrne continues to progress at his current rate, a senior cap won’t be far off.
