The Ivory Coast have won the African Cup of Nations following a dramatic penalty shoot-out.
The west African country beat Ghana 9-8 on penalties, after trailing 0-2 in the early stages of the shoot-out. Boubacar Barry, the Ivorian goalkeeper, was the hero, converting the decisive penalty after his Ghanian counterpart had missed his kick.
The game itself was a complete stinker, goalless after 120 minutes and featured a combined total of 53 fouls. Definitely not for the purists, but the exciting penalty shoot-out made-up for it.
The continental title is the first for the Ivory Coast since 1992, but it brought an unwanted accolade for Ghana manager, and former Chelsea boss, Avram Grant.
Sorry for Avram Grant …
