It’s a good group.
For Ireland.
And Wales.
And Austria.
And Serbia.
The Irish reaction to the World Cup qualifying draw was euphoric until we realised we were Ireland and we all started beating ourselves up again.
The overall consensus though was, ‘no disrespect to Wales, but that’s not a bad group’.
Unfortunately though, we weren’t the only ones happy with the draw. Far from it.
Boss Chris Coleman on Wales' World Cup draw: "It's a positive group. At the moment, at our strongest, we'll fancy ourselves against anyone."

What’s so funny?

You sarky…
Wales don't want Group D. Nasty.
— Chris Wathan (@ChrisWathan) July 25, 2015
Screw you, Luke
Great group for Wales that. #wales

Certs?
Wales getting a very favourable draw. They've surely got to be almost certain to qualify for the World Cup now.
— Game of Throw-ins (@GameofThrowIns) July 25, 2015
Have we really sunken that low and have Wales really come that far that they don’t even care about a good group anymore?
Group D for Wales, dodged a couple of tough groups there but no real glamour game for the fans #WorldCup2018

Well, we’re happier, so there…
Wales will be happy with their group, must fancy their chances of reaching their first World Cup since 1958.
— Jon Hayes (@JonHayes87) July 25, 2015
Already crying about the finals venue
Wales have a decent group but it had to be in fucking Russia the one time they have a decent chance
— Ben (@BenGroves19) July 25, 2015
Stronger schmonger
Not a bad group for Wales, predicting us 1st!! #TogetherStronger
— Connor Scott (@C_Scott96) July 25, 2015
Even the bloody Serbians are happy
Best possible group for Serbia. All teams that suit our playing style. Plus we have Wales' number from the last World Cup qualifiers.
— Serbian Football (@SerbianFooty) July 25, 2015
First time Serbia isn't in the group of death. #HvalaBogu #WC2018

And they’re also more expectant than us

A diplomatic voice of reason
No big name opponents, but that's a tough group for Wales. It will be competitive. Rankings aside, most of those sides are evenly matched
— Scott Johnson (@roathboy) July 25, 2015
Exactly
Let's be realistic, every country in Wales' group will be high-fiving tonight. Up to Bale and Co to prove their Pot One status was warranted
