Is David Moyes suggesting that he was offered bigger jobs than Manchester United?

SportsJOE

No. Just no. Please no.

Poor David Moyes.

Only three years ago, he was one of the most respected managers in the whole footballing world.

He had done his time, over a decade of it, and he had done his work. Good work. He deserved a big move and he deserved to be considered as the replacement to even Alex Ferguson – one of the greatest managers of all time.

In the space of one incomplete season, his whole reputation was torn to shreds.

In the space of one incomplete season, he looked run down.

Moyes

So after seasons of holding out on Merseyside, refusing supposed offers from the like of Spurs and Villa (when they were half decent), Moyes’ patience paid off but United weren’t as calm.

Then, a man who’d once have turned up his nose at a small-time link, and rightly so, took for Spain, took over Real Sociedad and failed there before wounding up with Sunderland.

We’re a long way from being too good for the Tottenham post now.

In an interview with English newspapers (as reported by ESPN), David Moyes came out and strongly defended his reputation. He might’ve got a little carried away in the process.

Moyes on Real Madrid and Barcelona

“What my time at Manchester United gave me is an unbelievable idea of what it is at the top,” he said. “I believe that’s where I can work and that’s where I should be working, and my level is that.

“You don’t get offered the Real Madrid job, the Barcelona job, the Manchester United job, if you’ve not had something to suggest there’s a reason for it.”

You read that right. We can only assume that he wasn’t offered either El Clasico jobs but that he was simply throwing United into the same bracket as the Spanish giants. And to have interest from any clubs in that bracket proves his worth.

Right? RIGHT?

It’s the only possible way we can continue watching football if we rationalise it like that.

Moyes going full Tim Sherwood

“I don’t think I have anything to prove to anybody else.

“I think I’ve got the fourth best win record in the Premier League out of all the managers.”

Second to none.

Moyes inadvertently slagging his current squad

“I want the good players to think they want to come here and that’s the manager I want to work for.”

This should be fun.
