Thanks but no thanks.
Ipswich Town are back in pre-season training but they may have to plan for a new season without Irish goalscorer supreme Daryl Murphy.
The Championship’s top scorer last season is being linked with a €6 million bid for his services from fellow championship side Middlesbrough, but it’s believed that the Tractor Boys have rejected the bid.
The club don’t need the money as they’re already flush with cash after seeing their bank balance swelled by the €10million sale of Tyrone Mings to Bournemouth.
Murphy started last month’s Euro qualifier against Scotland and was impressive up front, and has seen his career undergo a renaissance of some note over the last 12 months with a number of Premier League clubs also said to be interested in his services.
However it would be major surprise if Mick McCarthy was to let the player who scored 27 goals last season leave for a fellow promotion rival, while we’d love to see him add to the meagre number of Irish players in the top flight next season.
Town Boss Mick McCarthy says the blues don't want to sell Town top scorer Daryl Murphy this summer. Thoughts? #itfc pic.twitter.com/Z4MuUWxmhx
