Irish fans have perfect response to cruel Wales chant

Michael Corry

Wow! Not a good first half for Martin O’Neill’s men.

Ireland trail 3-0 to Wales at half-time in their first UEFA Nations League game at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Early goals from Tom Lawrence and that man Gareth Bale, was followed up by an Aaron Ramsey strike just before half time that has effectively killed the game as a contest.

Ireland will go in disappointed at half time in what was a poor showing from the boys in green. Not only have they been outplayed and outclassed by Ethan Ampadu and David Brooks, but they have been outfought all over the park.

Things got so bad for Ireland during the first half that the Welsh fans were ripping the piss out of the Republic boys comparing them to a shit Northern Ireland.

In fairness to the Ireland faithful, they took the abuse in good form and were able to give it back. The Irish fans responded in kind by singing, “You’re just a small town in England”.

If the second half continues in the same vain as the first, it could signal the end for Martin O’Neill and Roy Keane, given all the controversy that has ensued in the lead up to this game.
