The Republic of Ireland’s U16 side have won the Victory Shield in Scotland, and in some style.
The underage tournament features Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland and was first played in 1925.
Ireland only joined in 2015, following England’s withdrawal, and have already made their mark.
Paul Osam’s team, who came into the game after beating both Wales and Northern Ireland, won the tournament with a 3-0 victory over hosts Scotland on Friday afternoon.
Adam Idah gave Ireland the lead after 52-minutes, the striker showed great composure and skill to get the better of two Scottish defenders and the goalkeeper to score his third goal of the tournament.
Callum Thompson doubled Ireland’s lead six minutes later, scoring from a very acute angle.
