We’ll take all the luck we can get.
It’s not every day you qualify for the last eight of a major international tournament after losing 7-0 to one of world football’s great powerhouses, but that’s exactly what has happened to Ireland Under-17s at the European Championships on Wednesday afternoon.
A goal by Armin Imamovic for Bosnia in the 80th minute against Serbia changed the complexion of the group and saw Ireland somehow reach the knockout stages despite taking a 7-0 hammering at the hands of the Germans.
The Boys in Green qualify on a head-to-head record. Remarkable stuff.
When you lose 7-0 but still go through to the next round. Even teenagers know to look a little sheepish #COYBIG pic.twitter.com/wcN7evcrzr

Ireland well and truly embarrassed by Germany yet somehow still manage to qualify for the next round. Madness.
