The new Tom Daley?
First things first, Ireland didn’t do enough to win or draw in Warsaw and in fact, over the course of 10 games, Poland were deserving of their automatic qualifying spot.
And in Robert Lewandowski they have the world’s in-form striker – his headed goal was out of the top drawer.
But over the course of a hugely frustrating 90 minutes the Bayern Munich striker’s habit of going to ground at every touch infuriated the Irish fans.
It probably didn’t help that John O’Shea turned in a performance of such clumsiness he could use a DVD of the game as an audition tape for clown college.
But it was Lewandowski’s histrionics that most annoyed the Ireland fans.

Good player, Lewandowski, but he falls over more often and more easily than a drunkard on a trampoline #stayonyourfeet

I wish Lewandowski all the best with the Polish Olympic diving team in Rio next year. #POLIRL #IREvPOL #COYBIG #Ireland #notbitter

For all the diving Lewandowski did tonight he played O'Shea really well, was lucky to last the 90 mins on the pitch the way he "tackled" him

If Lewandowski played for an English club, we'd hear more about his diving than his superb finishing.
