PSG dealt cruel blow as Brazilian team doctor issues Neymar injury update

It’s worse than first thought for Neymar.

Brazil’s talisman player faces a battle to get fit for the World Cup after sustaining an injury on his foot.

It now looks like he will be out of action of three months after an operation, the Mirror reports, meaning it is touch and go whether he will be at full fitness in Russia.

The news comes after the PSG forward had to be stretchered off in his team’s win against Marseille last weekend after he sprained his ankle and fractured his metatarsal.

Brazil’s team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar confirmed the news to Brazilian media outlets on Wednesday with Neymar currently in Brazil awaiting surgery.

The injury left him in tears, presumably as he realised it could throw his World Cup chances into doubt. It is thought that he has opted to undergo surgery, rather than allow it to heel on its own, in the hope that it will guarantee his fitness for the tournament.

Last night, Neymar posted an image of him lying on the ground following the injury. He captioned it: “Obstacles don’t have to stop you, if you find a wall, don’t give up, find a way to climb it.”
