In the wake of the 4-1 defeat to Shelbourne, Roddy Collins admitted that it was worrying times for the club but he has offered to help in his own way by throwing down with Waterford man John Delaney.
“I want to challenge FAI chief executive John Delaney to a white collar boxing match to raise funds for Waterford United,” he told Buzz.ie.
“John, given training requirements, can choose the date.
“We need support. We need fans living in Waterford, all around the country and abroad to come together and ensure a stable future for the club.
“People might think I’m kidding, or that this is a hangover from my recent dealings with the FAI. But it’s not. If anything, I’m holding out an olive branch.
“Roddy versus JD, three rounds in the Woodlands Hotel. We’d pack the place out and all for a brilliant cause. We could secure the future of the club in one night.”
