Maguire wants to stay and fight for his place.
Harry Maguire has decided to turn down a loan move to Inter Milan and fight for his place at Manchester United.
It was reported on Monday that Maguire had been the subject of a loan bid from the Serie A champions as they look to replace Milan Skriniar as Paris Saint-Germain try to sign him early after agreeing on a pre-contract deal with the French side.
The defender has fallen behind in the pecking order to Lisandro Martínez and Victor Lindelof, with Luke Shaw even being preferred in the centre-back role.
Despite his lack of game time, United boss Erik ten Hag wants to keep the club captain until the end of the season.
Maguire is keen to fight for his place at Old Trafford but is reportedly willing to consider his options if he can’t earn his way back into the side.
After their 3-1 win against Reading in the FA Cup – in which Maguire started – he said:”I feel like I’ve looked after myself – I think it’s two-and-a-half weeks since my last start – so I’ve been working hard in training.
“The lads who’ve been playing have been doing well so when I get the opportunity I need to take it and make sure we win.
“I’m working hard every day, I’m pushing, I’m training well, and when my chance comes I need to take it.
“We know at this club we need competition for places, we have some top centre-backs at this club so I think we’re all good from now until the end of the season.”
