Harry Kane’s real weight revealed as FA confirm error in Fifa listing

It always seemed off

No, Harry Kane doesn’t actually weigh 15st 6lbs.

Several eyebrows were raised on Monday afternoon when Fifa revealed the official squad lists for the upcoming World Cup and Kane was listed as the joint-second heaviest player who will be in Russia for the tournament.

It was claimed that Kane’s official weight was 98 kgs ahead of his first ever World Cup, with only Panama’s Roman Torres coming in heavier than the Spurs frontman at 99 kgs.

In fact, only three players were said to weigh the same as Kane, according to the official data, and they were his namesake and international compatriot Harry Maguire, Denmark’s Jannik Vestergaard and Saudi Arabia goalkeeper Abdullah Almuaiouf.

The “fact” that Kane, who was listed as 188cm tall, appeared to be a whopping 18kgs heavier than Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t make a lot of sense in the minds of supporters, but the reality has since been made clear.

The FA confirmed to the Daily Mail that there was no way that Kane could have tipped the scales at 98 kgs because when he was last weighed at St George’s Park, he came in at a trim 89kg (14 stone), which would suggest that whoever was entering the data had made a simple typing error by hitting the 9 key before the 8, rather than after.

There are several listings which don’t really add up though as Ruben Loftus-Cheek is said to have lost a whopping three stone since last month, when he himself claimed that he weighed 14 stone.

What we’re saying is that we’d take the official World Cup weight listings with a generous helping of salt.
