Report: Chelsea eye Gonzalo Higuain to replace Alvaro Morata

Chelsea will reportedly look to bring in Argentine international Gonzalo Higuain to the club next month.

The Blues have struggled up front this season with Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud both failing to hold down a spot in the first team.

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has relied on winger Eden Hazard to lead the line but the Belgian has publicly indicated that he does not enjoy playing up front and Sarri will now look to bring in Higuain from AC Milan, according to VAVEL journalist Mootaz Chehade.

Higuain has scored five goals in 12 games since moving to Milan from Juventus during the summer but played the best season of his career under Sarri at Napoli when he scored 38 goals for the Serie A club.

The former Juventus striker was Sarri’s top target during the summer transfer window but he ultimately opted to sign for Milan instead.

“Higuain? It’s a little regret but in the end everyone after the market have a few little regrets,” Sarri said back in August.

Meanwhile Higuain said that the Chelsea boss is the best manager that he’s work for in his career and that he ultimately chose Milan over the London club because he felt there was more people interested in him at the San Siro.

“He’s the best manager I had in my career. I showed all my potential with him. I think he is similar to Gattuso: they both want to win and that’s something I really love.

“Sarri was the only one to want me at Chelsea. Everybody wanted at AC Milan, while in London I was only wanted by the manager. AC Milan insisted to sign me, Elliott did a big effort for me and Leonardo, Maldini and Gattuso know the club very well. I really appreciated their approach during the negotiations.”

Chelsea fans aren’t too happy about the potential signing though.
