Gianfranco Zola didn’t last long back in Italian football

The Chelsea legend has been sacked as manager by Cagliari

Robert Redmond

72 days, 11 games, two wins and nines losses.

Gianfranco Zola’s time at Cagliari wasn’t productive or long. The Chelsea legend took charge of the Serie A strugglers in December, lost his first game 0-5 at home to Palermo and leaves them in 18th position, four points adrift of top-flight safety.

Zola spent seven years at Chelsea, playing 309 and scoring 80 goals, before finishing his career with Cagliari.

zola & gullitt

The Italian is likely to be replaced by Zdenek Zeman, who Zola had actually succeeded in December. So maybe it wouldn’t be the worst idea to hang around, Gianfranco.
