German side forced to switch hotels after realising it contained 400 Russian models

The Duisburg players will have no distractions in their new lodgings

Neil Treacy

Now we know why Louis Van Gaal is so keen on a winter break.

It’s the traditional mid-season break in many European leagues at the moment, and like plenty fo other clubs, German third tier side MSV Duisburg decided to jet off to warmer confines for some warm weather training.

They went to Antalya, a coastal city in Turkey, but they had to make some last minute adjustments to their arrangements, after realising that the hotel they were booked to stay in was filled with 400 Russian models (as you do).

The official statement released by the club (with the help of Google translate and a B3 in the leaving cert) can be summed up in one line: “We want to calmly prepare for the spring series :)”.

Yep, they actually included the smiley face.
