German football club suspends players for planning an ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ style casino heist

You could not make this up

If you are going to get suspended by your club, then you may as well do something well deserving of a ban.

And it seems that at least three Hannover 96 players were planning not quite the normal day off for themselves in recent weeks.

According to German newspaper Bild, three players have been given a lengthy spell at home by the fire after it was discovered that they may be planning to do a bit of stealing.

And we don’t mean apples and oranges either.

They instead had the great idea of trying to rob a casino, ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ style.

The players are understood to have confessed their bonkers plan on Tuesday, and some outlets are reporting that the players were stopped with balaclavas on their way to the casino when they decided the whole idea had gone too far.

The club are currently rock bottom of the Bundesliga but that’s still hardly an excuse for trying out a real life version of the George Clooney films.
