Gary Neville believes that Wout Weghorst has brought “more profit” to Manchester United than Cristiano Ronaldo. Weghorst has started 19 games in all competitions this season and has scored two goals since joining on loan from Burnley in January. The Dutchman was brought in after Ronaldo left the club by mutual consent in November following his explosive television interview with Piers Morgan. Since the arrival of the forward, United have won 12 of the 19 games Weghorst has played in whereas with Ronaldo, United had only won nine games and scored 23 team goals, 14 less than what Erik ten Hag’s side have scored with Weghorst playing. Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Neville made the claim that the Red Devils are actually better with the 30-year-old instead of Ronaldo.

“Since Sunday that seems to have been a moment, he has played basically every moment since coming in,” he said. “I called him a placeholder because United didn’t invest in a striker United would want."
