Gary Neville reveals which Irish actor turned him down when he asked for a photo

Roy Keane thought it was brilliant.

In what would be a very Roy Keane move to make, former Manchester United star Gary Neville reveals that a fellow Irishman had turned down his request for a photo.

Usually it is Neville who is being asked for a photo by Manchester United fans, or just football fans in general, but the celeb turned into a fan when he met one famous actor in particular.

Speaking on The Overlap podcast, Neville reveals to his former teammate, Roy Keane, who the star was.

“I’ve only ever asked someone for a picture once and he was a man from Cork, Cillian Murphy…and he said no,” said Neville.

“He said no. Brilliant! I love that. Brilliant,” joked Keane.

“I was on set all day and all the cast have come up. I love the programme to bits and Cillian Murphy comes up and I ask for a picture, he says: ‘No, I’ve got some filming to do!’ and walked off. I just thought he’s the spit of you (Keane!?”

“Brilliant. But I get where he’s coming from. He was working or he was in the zone. I think that’s brilliant but do you not dislike him for that?”

“No, I don’t dislike him at all, it was just a bit embarrassing at the time,” said Neville in jest.

Not missing a trick, Keane couldn’t help but playfully twist the knife into his former teammate.

“Yeah, it would be! That’s why you probably shouldn’t ask. You’re setting yourself up for fall and that’s why I would never potentially embarrass myself like that! There’s no one I’d ever hold up there and say, I’d love a photograph with him. I don’t think there is, said Keane.
