Gary Neville has a dig at Paul Pogba for his controversial deleted tweet

Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville has said that Paul Pogba can ‘go and do one’ after the midfielder posted a tweet with his face accompanied by the caption ‘Caption This’ just moments after manager Jose Mourinho had left the club.

United announced on Tuesday morning that Mourinho had left the club less than a year after signing a new contract in January.

Mourinho and Pogba shared a frosty relationship this season and the timing of Pogba’s tweet raises questions over whether it was a subtle shot at the Portuguese manager or whether it was a genuine accident.

Neville seemed to be convinced that Pogba’s tweet had to with the former and was quick to take aim at the midfielder for his post.

Neville was on Sky Sports News right on the button of Mourinho’s sacking and he discussed the factors leading up to Mourinho’s parting from the club.

“It’s been unpleasant, it’s been unsavoury, you could see on the pitch it’s impacting the players…the players have looked demoralised, disinterested, it’s been so inconsistent and the sacking of Jose Mourinho is the result of what happened last summer, when Jose came back after the first part of United’s pre-season tour and started complaining to the media, you knew that this was going to rumble on…”

He doesn’t just blame Mourinho though, he blames a club that has lost its way.

“It’s been seven years of poor recruitment and decisions. I can’t see anybody at the football club that’s got the qualifications to do this. Recruitment has been erratic. The current team have had three chances to appoint a manager, they’ll probably get a fourth.

“They need to make the right move, it’s not about speed, they need to make sure the next manager is the right manager…The club needs to reset…This isn’t about speed…”
