Roy Hodgson is one of football’s quiet men.
Win, lose or draw, you won’t see Hodgson jumping up and down, shaking his fists or doing Klinsmanns with the players after the game.
The same can’t be said for England’s assistant boss Gary Neville.
Several years as understudy to the reserved 68-year-old, none of this poise, calm and equanimity seems to have rubbed off on Neville.
When Daniel Sturridge poked home his late, late winner against Wales the former Manchester United captain was off the bench, down the touchline and piling on his England players.
In that moment he had completely taken leave of his senses and forgotten that he wasn’t still playing in the England 11.
The sheer joy, passion and elation on his face was beautiful, whatever your allegiance. Imagine if Roy Keane did the same!
