Chelsea’s resurgence under Antonio Conte has been the main story of the Premier League campaign so far, so it is no surprise to see the Blues dominate Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher’s teams of the season.
Conte’s team are six points clear as we approach the halfway point, having won 11 straight games in the league, and both Sky Sports pundits name five of their outfield players in their selection.
Cesar Azpilicueta, David Luiz, N’Golo Kanté, Eden Hazard and Diego Costa all make the cut, showing that Conte’s success has come through new signings and players who struggled to find form last season under José Mourinho.
Neville also has a place for Thibaut Courtois, who has kept 10 clean sheets in 17 appearances, while Carragher opts for Sunderland’s Jordan Pickford between the sticks.
The selections are similar, with two other players – Southampton centre-back Virgil van Dijk and Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana – also making the cut for both pundits.

Football is a game of opinions, of course, and one man’s Zlatan is another man’s Alexis Sanchez.
And while this goes for Neville and Carragher respectively, it also serves to characterise one of the main arguments on social media.
