Claudio Raneiri has been sacked by Leicester City, less than a year after guiding the Foxes to the Premier League title. The 65-year-old Italian was appointed in 2015, and was expected to oversee a relegation battle with the club who just avoided the drop the previous season. However, despite being 5,000 to one to win the league title, Leicester ended up topping the table by 10 points at the end of the season, completing a genuine sporting miracle. Ranieri was named 2016 Fifa coach of the year and looked on course to have a statue in his honour built outside the King Power stadium. However, the Foxes have struggled this season. Leicester have yet to score a league goal in 2017. They are currently one point and one place above the relegation zone, and face Liverpool on Monday in the league.
