Gary Lineker and Jamie Carragher’s twitter row the most exciting thing so far on transfer deadline day

Pep got your tongue Gaz

We’ll say one thing.

Jamie Carragher’s response made a refreshing change to what Gary Lineker usually gets on his Twitter feed when the former England striker tweets pretty much anything these days.

The former Barcelona man tweeted his reaction earlier to the news that Pep Guardiola is coming to the Premier League to replace Manuel Pellegrini’s as Manchester City manager.

The Chilean confirmed the news this afternoon himself at his pre-match press conference, just a few months after he signed a new deal at the Etihad.

The news is no shock to anyone in football in truth, but Gary Lineker still felt the need to explain how the whole process seemed very offensive to him.

Although one keen eyed former Everton fan wasn’t too happy with the tweet, and decided to call out the former striker on a controversial move of his own in 1986.

It was about the most interesting thing to happen all Transfer Deadline day so some people were hoping for a little bit of back and forth during the afternoon.

Fans desperate for entertainment were hoping for a witty retort from Lineker and finally he did  respond this afternoon to cut Jamie’s argument down to size.

And Carragher at least seemed some way appeased.
