Ander Herrera was forced to wait for his chance at Old Trafford. Now that he is there, he is tired of waiting.
Last season, after starting on the fringes of Manchester United’s first team, the Spaniard played a key role in the club reaching the Champions League.
In 26 appearances (19 starts), Herrera scored six goals and contributed four assists. It was his best ever return.
This season, there has been regression. He has featured in 12 games (staring eight) but has scored four times and made two assists. He has been in and out of the side, however.
Herrera is just coming back from a spell on the sidelines – after injuring himself against Watford – and wants his immediate future sorted.
The 26-year-old feels frustrated at his lack of starts at the club, according to The Star, wants a sit-down with van Gaal in the coming months,
The source claimed: “Ander is worried about his lack of progress at Manchester United under Louis van Gaal.
“He feels like he’s lost his identity as a player and doesn’t know what his role is anymore.
“His situation appears to be getting worse and he’s worried his career is going backwards, so there will have to be a chat with the manager.”
Van Gaal does not appear to be a man who responds well to threats, so we hope Herrera brings bagels.
